1. One who is proficient in one or more areas of information technology, such as telecommunications, computer programming, web development, network engineering, information systems administration, and the like.
2. An engineer or technician for hire, such as a contract programmer or network administrator.
3. One, with special knowledge or expertise in one or more areas of information technology, who is hired to resolve particularly difficult or complex problems.
4. A "hired gun" of the technology industry.

The intention of techslinger.com is to create a virtual space for those modern ronin of the technology industry, the techslingers, to call their own. For now, we are only providing a domain name for email and personal web pages, but eventually we may provide tools, information, and the like for the techslinger. It is also possible this may eventually become a place where those in need of a techslinger can find one to hire.
